We we chopper in from the Rockpile, that morning. I think four 81’s guns came in and set, we took in coming motors, we got hit. My friend Larry died, the rest got wounded, remember us to, we will always be brothers. Semper Fi, James Puhl wound April 30, 1968. God Bless all Marines, see you some day Larry

I’m wondering if they might have known each other. He never talked about the war so I appreciate hearing from her perspective.

Thank you for sharing this and for your service. The sacrifices you and the Marines of Charlie 1/3 and 2/4 made will never be forgotten. Leaving behind a young family, is truly heartbreaking. Stories like yours remind us of the bravery and brotherhood of those who fought there. Semper Fi, and thank you for carrying these memories and honoring the men who didn’t make it home.

We went in after 2/4 be hell out of a enemy division. Can’t say hear what I saw there, too brutal. I do remember the Marines of 2/4 set up a small perimeter of about 50 Marines. I won’t ever forget how these Marines my age 18 to 20 years old looked 15 years older than we did. I can see their faces to this day. We lost our corpman crossing the river to get to 2/4 remaining Marines, and while doing so our small track vehicle sunk, killing our corosman doc Louis Delgoto who drowned trying to reach shore. He left a month old new born daughter and wife. I think of him everyday. God bless 2/4 and all Marines who fought in this battle. Semper Fi

The Brewers, Williams, and the Buckminsters are the family names. My grandparents were from Webster City, Iowa originally. My grandmother was Agnes Eleanor Williams born in 1876. She had my dad when she was 45 years old. I am 72.

Every Veterans Day, we would compete to see who had raised the most donations. I enjoyed attending his 99th birthday and unfortunately, Hurricane Helene came and his 100th birthday party was cancelled. I still went to his nursing home and brought him ice cream. Afterward he went back to sleep. I told his caretaker that the rest of the ice cream was placed in his frog if he wanted more later. I will surely miss Harold.

I know Rich was in echo company with Captain Livingston who received the Medal of Honor. Rich was one of the 4 Marines who carried him out of the area.
