We used to take our dad, also a TBM/Avenger pilot, to USS Yorktown Reunions. Gil was one of the best storytellers about his experiences, not to mention he was a very kind and caring gentleman.

As I applaude ‘the greatest’ generation I also wonder in amazement at the events of Mr. Mays life flying the ‘Turkey’. If Mr. Mays son would honor me with an interview about his fathers military experiences flying off the Yorktown I would appreciate it.
