Did any fires occur on board the Kitty Hawk while you were on board?

Our grandpop helped to build it, my dad flew off of it in his time serving in the US Navy, and then my brother served on it as well. Please save this amazing piece of history

I also served under Capt. ‘Tooter’ Teague when he was the Carrier Air Group (CAG-11) commander on the Kitty Hawk prior to taking command of the ship. He was an awesome CAG commander, almost too tall to fit in the F-8 fighters. I was factory trained on the ‘new’ F-14 Tomcat avionics but never was assigned to an F-14 squadron. Later, as a reservist, I did my obligatory weekends and two weeks a year with the ‘RAG’ squadron out of Miramar and two weeks at Fallon, Nevada.
However, my active duty time with CAG-11 and ‘Tooter’ Teague on my last ‘West Pac’ is still very memorable, as was my previous last ‘West Pac’ on the Kitty Hawk.

We were in Philly with her while she was in dry dock and I was on the Executive Board for the Wives Club. I miss the ship and have been following her story. It is my hope she’ll be turned into a museum, but I worry about her. I left him when he cheated on me with another serviceman’s wife so I don’t miss him, but I miss the Navy and the Kitty. She was home. I’ve got fond memories of having to pull my heels off to slide down her stairs. ha

I’m a designer and if, heaven forbid she’s dismantled, I would love to design a challenge coin to commemorate her. Forever in our hearts. Does anyone know if there’s already a coin? If there is I’d love one.

Thank you all so much for your service. /salute
